I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle crime (theft from or theft of), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Kent Police officers have taken significant action against an individual linked to ongoing reports of anti-social behaviour and nuisance riding in the Kings Farm area, particularly around Palmer Avenue. The rider of a white moped, which had been reported to police on a number of occasions by local residents, was located by officers and stopped using tactical contact. Following his detention, officers conducted searches and located a significant quantity of suspected Class A drugs. Further enquiries also established that the moped had been reported stolen.
The rider was subsequently arrested on suspicion of:
• Possession With Intent to Supply Class A Drugs
• Handling/Stolen Vehicle Offences
• Multiple driving-related offences As part of the investigation, officers identified an address the rider had been seen leaving shortly before being stopped. That address was searched, resulting in the seizure of two further high-powered electric bikes. The bikes were seized using Section 59 Police Reform Act powers, which allow police to seize vehicles that are being used in a manner causing alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public. This incident perfectly demonstrates why tackling nuisance bikes, Sur-Rons and illegally used high-powered e-bikes is such an important priority for Kent Police. Whilst residents often report concerns relating to anti-social behaviour, the reality is that these vehicles are frequently linked to wider criminality including drug supply, theft, county lines activity and dangerous driving. What may initially appear to be a nuisance vehicle can often lead us directly to offenders involved in far more serious offences.
Today's arrest has resulted in: ✅ A suspected drug dealer being arrested
✅ A stolen moped being recovered
✅ Two further high-powered e-bikes being seized
✅ Intelligence opportunities to tackle wider criminality within the area We are particularly keen to hear from residents who know where nuisance bikes, Sur-Rons or high-powered e-bikes are being stored. Whether they are being kept in gardens, sheds, garages or other locations, this information can be invaluable and may allow officers to identify offenders, obtain further evidence and use the powers available to seize vehicles. If you know who is riding nuisance bikes, where they are being stored, or have footage of anti-social riding, please contact Kent Police via:
